The women’s choir “Nezabravki” is one of the ensembles of the Community Center “Obedinenie 1913” in the city of Kardzhali. It was founded in 1967 by the young music teacher Marin Vladinov, who gathered talented children from the primary school “Mitko Palauzov” and laid the foundations of the choir. Until 2016, he was its permanent conductor. During these nearly 50 years, with love and dedication, he prepared a large and diverse repertoire.
In 1972, the choir became a city ensemble and joined the tourist association “Mircho Spasov.” At that time, it received the name “Nezabravki.”
Notable participations include:
- 1974 – Participation in a choir festival in Shumen;

Since 1996, the choir “Nezabravki” has been part of the Community Center “Obedinenie 1913” in Kardzhali, where it remains to this day. Over the years, the choir has made recordings for Radio Sofia and Radio Stara Zagora. It has participated in festivals in the cities of Varna, Burgas, Pleven, Haskovo, Veliko Tarnovo, Stara Zagora, Gabrovo, Sliven, Popovo, and Novi Pazar. For over 10 years, it has performed church chants during liturgical services at St. George Church in the city. During this period, it also participated twice in the “St. Bogoroditsa – Dostoĭno est” festival in Pomorie.
The choir has given two concerts in Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture, as well as concerts in the “Bulgaria” Hall and the “Georgi Kirkov” Hall.
The choir’s répétiteur was the distinguished Kardzhali composer Radost Popova, and many of the ensemble’s songs and arrangements are her work. From 1990 to 2016, the répétiteur of the choir was Tavit Machikian.
Throughout its more than 50-year history, the choir has evolved from a children’s ensemble, through a tourist group, into a women’s choir. The ensemble actively participates in various cultural events in the municipality and the community center, related to significant dates and celebrations. This has led to a diversification of its repertoire, including works from different musical genres such as pre-classical, classical, European music, church chants, Bulgarian folk songs, Greek songs, pop music, as well as cover versions of popular songs.
Since 2016, the conductor and répétiteur of the choir has been Tavit Machikian.
He was born in Plovdiv and graduated from the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts “Prof. Asen Diamandiev” in Plovdiv, specializing in piano and vocal pedagogy. As a young specialist, he was assigned to Kardzhali, and his professional path remains connected to this city. Over the years, Tavit Machikian has worked as a piano teacher, music educator, and performer in various jazz, pop, rock, and symphonic formations. His ability to interpret music leaves a distinctive mark on the repertoire and performances of the “Nezabravki” choir.
