Denitsa Uzunova is a student of Prof. Veneta Vicheva in conducting from the first graduating class of the “Music Pedagogy” major at Shumen University “B. K. Preslavski”. During her college years, she was invited by Prof. Vicheva to be the choirmaster of the mixed choir “Native Sounds” and the children’s choir “Bodra Pessen”. She has been the second conductor of the children’s choir since 1995, and its artistic director and conductor since 2011.  D. Uzunova has participated in international courses for conductors with professors Boris Tevlin (Russia), Ellen Guy (France), Larry Wyatt (USA), Prof. Erwin Ortner (Austria), Prof. Marin Chonev and Prof. Krikor Chetinyan (Bulgaria).

She is the winner of the First Prize in the III national competition for teachers working in extracurricular activities, organized by the festival program “Friends of Bulgaria” and the Ministry of Education (2010); The special prize of the Ministry of Education and Sciences from the international competition for teachers “Extracurricular activities – for sustainable quality education and uplifting of students” (2014); Shumen Award – twice (2017, 2021), Teacher of the Year Award (2016), Neophyte Rilski Award (2016).

She artistic secretary of the “Dobri Voinikov” international children’s and youth choir festival in Shumen. She is a member of the board of the Bulgarian Choral Union since 2015.

Denitsa Uzunova is a member of the jury of vocal and choral competitions, the author of a book and articles on topics in the field of choral art.
