Slavil Dimitrov began his musical education with Rositsa Mihailova in Shumen. At the same time he was already a chorister in the children’s choir “Bodra Song” with conductor prof. Veneta Vicheva.

At the Natural and Mathematical High School “Nancho Popovich” in Shumen, where he studied, he was also a choir accompanist. And in 1999 she conducted it at the National School Choir Festival “Dobri Voynikov” in Shumen.

At the same time he started to attend composition lessons with prof. Al. Raichev and became a participant in the experimental composition class of prof. Г. Uspensky at the State Conservatory in Odessa.

He graduated from NMA “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” with a specialty in “Choral Conducting” in 1995 under prof. Krum Maksimov, and in 1998 with the specialty “Opera and Orchestral Conducting” under prof. Ivan Vulpe.

Since the beginning of 1992 he has been the choirmaster of the Academic Choir at the Student House – Sofia, and from 1994 to 1998 its Chief Conductor.

At the invitation of Stanislav Ushev, shortly before his graduation, he began working as a conductor at the State Philharmonic Orchestra in Shumen, where he was conductor for 10 years.

In 2006 he founded the Simeonis Choir in Shumen, of which he is still the Chief Artistic Director.

In 2007 he won a competition for conductor of the choir at the National Opera and Ballet, Sofia, succeeding the iconic choir director Hristo Kazandjiev.

An important period in Slavil Dimitrov’s artistic career was his appointment as Chief Conductor of Opera Activities at the Ruse State Orchestra. Along with this, he also directed the Danube Sounds Choir, which is not only an integral part of musical life in Ruse, but also collaborates in the staging of a number of operatic and cantata-oratorio titles.

In the period 2012 – 2014 he was invited to be the Choral Director of the State Opera and Ballet – Izmir, Turkey, and since 2013 he has been the conductor of the orchestra. At the same time, he began teaching at Yashar University in Izmir, where he established a specialty in Choral Conducting, the first and only one of its kind in the Republic of Turkey.

He is a guest conductor of Symphony Orchestras and Opera Theatres in Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Germany, Serbia, Turkey and Japan.

Since June 2015 conductor of the National Philharmonic Choir “St.. He is a member of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra. Currently he is also conductor of the Sofia Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and the Youth Choir Chapel at the Lyubomir Pipkov National Music School. Since October 2018 he is the President of the Bulgarian Choir Union.
