Choir festivals in Bulgaria

The thirteenth edition of the choir festivals “Yanko Mustakov” in Svishtov has ended. The event was held from May 30 to June 1 on the stage of the First Bulgarian Community Center “Elenka and Kiril D. Avramovi” and the church “Holy Trinity”. Seven formations from Bulgaria and one from Romania took part in the festivities.

After the festive procession through the streets of Svishtov, the First Bulgarian Choir “Yanko Mustakov”, children’s choir “Bonka Golemanova” – Botevgrad, children’s choir “Milka Stoeva” – Burgas and women’s choir “Camera” – Braila performed in the first concert on the stage of the community center.

The participants were welcomed at the opening by the mayor of Svishtov – Mr. Gencho Genchev and by Dr. Rosen Marinov – director of the “Culture and Cultural Heritage” Directorate in the municipality of Svishtov.

The second day began with a round table on issues of choral work in Bulgaria, and in the evening the audience was introduced to the art of the mixed choir “Tsarevets” – Veliko Tarnovo, the children’s choir at the choir school “Prof. Georgi Dimitrov” – Yambol, the mixed choir “Petko Staynov” – Kazanlak and the mixed choir of the Bulgarian National Radio – Sofia.

The festivities ended with a concert of church music in the “Holy Trinity” temple.

All choral formations received a statuette and gifts from the organizers.

Gancho Ganchev – Chairman of the Board of the Bulgarian Choral Union congratulated the participants and presented them with a Diploma on behalf of the Union.

In June, two more significant events for the choral art of Bulgaria are coming up – on June 4, the International Choir Festival “Chernomorski zvutsi” begins – Balchik, and from June 6 to 8, the participants in the “Prof. Lilia Gyuleva” Festival of Women’s and Girls’ Choirs will meet in Targovishtе.
