GOLD MEDAL FOR CHOIR ‘IN SACRIS’

Another member of the Bulgarian Choir Society won a prestigious award in a choir competition. The Chamber Choir “In sacris” conducted by Denitsa Kaburova returned with a Gold Medal from the International Music Festival in Bratislava. The music forum was held from June 12 to 15 and included choirs from South Korea, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Bulgaria and Slovakia.

A choir competition was also held within the framework of the festival in the following categories:

Mixed choirs
Orthodox church music
Chamber choirs category
Female choirs
Folklore choirs with accompaniment
Children’s choirs up to 16 years old
Sacred music a cappella
Children’s choirs up to 12 years old 
Spiritual, gospel, pop and jazz
The performances were evaluated by a jury consisting of:  prof. Blanka Juhanakova – Slovakia, MgA. Jiri Petrdlik Ph. D. – Czech Republic, prof. Milan Kolena – Slovakia.
The competition program of the Bulgarian representative included:
1. Yulia Petrenko – On the Rivers of Babylon
2. Georgi Popov – God Hear Me
3. Arvo Pärt – Virgin Mary, Rejoice,
4. Yulia Petrenko – An Angel Cried
In addition to the competition, the choir “In sacris” also took part in three festival concerts, where they performed works by Vl. Fainer, Petar Dimov, Atanas Kulinski and Ivan Spasov.
