Children’s choir “Danube Waves” of the ObDCKIs conductor Vesela Todorova and pianist Milena Rubcheva took part in the 12th consecutive edition of the International Choir Festival “Music and Sea” in Paralia Katerinis – Greece. The talented Russians performed in the competition part and unquestionably won the FIRST PRIZE in their category among competitors from Moldova, Romania, Serbia and Bulgaria. The repertoire for the competition includes one work each from the pre-classical and classic, two works by composers from the 20th century/ Miklos Koshar and Ivan Spasov/ and one song from Bulgarian folklore by Petar Lyondev.
The first place also sent them to the competition for the Grand Prix. There, the Bulgarian children compete with two female people – from Estonia and Lithuania and two mixed – from Slovakia and Hungary. The great winner of the competition was the “Apollo” choir/Slovakia/, and the Bulgarian conductor Vesela Todorova won the jury’s special prize for the best conductor. For the “Danube Waves” Grand Prix, he performed “Ergen deda” and “Kaval sviri”/ P. Lyondev/ and Bre, Petrunko”/ arr. Filip Kutev/
Over 20 people of different nationalities participated in both parts of the festival. Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia, Romania, Moldova, Hungary, Slovakia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland and Sweden presented a colorful palette of wonderful music and costumes. The Ruse singers sang wonderfully and received not only awards, but also the applause of the audience and jury and invitations to festivals in Bratislava and Thessaloniki.
In the non-competition part of the festival, the “Danube Waves” Women’s Choir took part in the “Angel Kanchev 1901”.
