XIII International Choral Festival “Chernomorski zvutsi” – Balchik

For the thirteenth time the town of Balchik welcomed the participants in the International Choral Festival “Chernomorski zvutsi” – 16 choirs from seven countries. From the first festival day, the flags of Bulgaria, Romania, Estonia, North Macedonia, Armenia, the Czech Republic and Turkey flew on the festival stages.

483 hearts in love with choral art filled the White City with their voices during the four festival days. Six concerts and three choir workshops for Contemporary Bulgarian Choral Music, led by Prof. Dr. Rada Slavinska, Marieta Seklemova and Krasen Ivanov.

Two premiere works were performed on stage in Balchik – “Zadyavka” /for folklore ensembles/ by Prof. Dr. Rada Slavinska and “Music in Me” /for children’s and single-member choirs/ by Bilyana Chokoeva Angelova.

The festival was held under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and the Mayor of Balchik Municipality, Mr. Nikolay Angelov, with the financial support of the Balchik Municipality and the National Culture Fund, and the partnership of the Bulgarian Choral Union and dozens of organizations and creative unions.

For another year, the Bulgarian Choral Union presented the Award for the best-performing Bulgarian choir – a Diploma and a cash prize of 250 euros.
