Martin Krastev was born on 01.03.2003 in the town of Balchik.
He graduated from the “Music” profile at the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” in the town of Dobrich with honors –
specialization “Pop and Jazz Singing”. He plays the piano. Since he was a child, he has been singing in various
vocal formations, both in his hometown and in the town of Dobrich – vocal groups,
choirs.
He is currently studying “Pedagogy of Music Education” at the VTU “St. St. Cyril and
Methodius” in the town of Veliko Tarnovo, where he specializes in “Pop and Jazz Singing” in the class of
Prof. Srebra Mihaleva.
Martin is engaged in arranging and composing music. He also performs as a solo
performer. He is the winner of many awards from national and international festivals and
competitions.
For his age, he has serious experience in project management and organizing
events.
In 2022 releases his first debut album Musical Dreams /financed by a project from the
National Fund “Culture”/, as well as his first original song, which was released as a
pilot single from the album – “Wish”.
An essential part of the young man’s life is choral music.
At the end of last year, Martin Krastev won funding for the realization of his
choral composition Irish blessing /Irish blessing/ under the “Creation” program
from the National Fund “Culture”. The artistic idea of the project is to create a
sound recording and a video clip with the participation of two choral ensembles from the city of Dobrich – the Chorus of the
Teachers with conductor Margarita Ruseva – Ganeva and the Children’s Choir “Maestro Zahari
Mednikarov” with conductor Gabriela Pisanova.
The completed musical project will be presented to the community in June.
Awards in the field of musical art:
– In 2020 first and second place with two compositions (choral /Ave Maria for SSA/ and instrumental) at the International Composition Competition of the Creative
music class Foundation in Atlanta, USA in 2020.
– In 2021, a diploma for achievements in the field of choral composition from the IV
International Choral Composition Competition “Alexander Dmitrievich
Kastalsky” in Moscow, organized by the Moscow State Conservatory
“Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky”.
– In 2024, second prize from the XII International Composition Competition “Jan
Sibelius Fest” in Finland with two choral compositions – Ave verum corpus /for
mixed choir/ and Irish Blessing /for female choir/.
