WOMEN`S VOCAL ENSEMBLE “VIVA” – Kozloduy

The Women’s Vocal Ensemble “VIVA” at the National Community Center Temple-Monument “Hristo
Botev – 1879” was established in 2001 with conductor Stefka Slavcheva and pianist Zdravka
Nikolaeva. The vocal ensemble “VIVA” has a rich repertoire of works covering various genres and
styles.
The vocal ensemble consists of 24 choristers. The ensemble participates in all concerts at the
community center in the municipality and the region. In April 2004, the ensemble took part in the
church chants organized by the Bulgarian Metropolis in Sofia. In June of the same year, “VIVA”
participated in the Second Choir Festival in the city of Burgas and received very high praise from the
festival’s expert jury. In November 2005, the ensemble “VIVA” gave two solo concerts in the Republic
of Greece, in the towns of Livadia and Orchomenos, at the invitation of Maestro Todor Kabakchiev –
conductor of the choir in Livadia. In 2008, the group participated in the 11th Gathering of Choirs from
the Danube Border Towns “Danube – River of Friendship and Song” – in the city of Silistra.
From October 2008 to 2022, the conductor of the Women’s Vocal Ensemble “VIVA” was Boyanka
Ancheva.
In 2011, the ensemble visited Ohrid – Republic of North Macedonia, where it received very high
praise for its performance.
After a three-year hiatus, the women’s choir “VIVA” resumed its singing activities with conductor Ivet
Dimitrova Glozhenska and pianist Zdravka Nikolaeva Dobruzhaliyeva.
At the beginning of 2025, the choir was taken over by the young and talented Irina Tserkovska as
conductor and pianist Zdravka Dobruzhaliyeva.
The choir participates in all municipal and community center events in Kozloduy.
The women’s choir “VIVA” has a rich and diverse repertoire that includes: The repertoire is regularly
updated and enriched, including world choral masterpieces, church chants, and arranged folklore.

Irina Tserkovska graduated from the National School of Arts “Panayot Pipkov” in
Pleven and the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts (AMTII) – Plovdiv with a
major in “Classical Singing.” She has been a piano teacher at the music school
of the House of Energy in Kozloduy since 2020. In 2024, she became the vocal
coach of the “Viva” choir and from the beginning of 2025, she took over as the
choir conductor.
