The mixed choir “Nightingale” at the community center “Druzhba-1870” – Harmanli was formed in 1896. There are about 30 choristers. It presents polyphonic music of various styles – church, secular, folklore. The choir is a laureate and winner of silver medals from the 5th and 6th republican festivals of artistic self-activity. He gave concerts in various cities of Bulgaria and abroad: Poland – 1979, 1983, 1998, 1999, 2004, 2009; Russia – 1995; Serbia – 1998, 2019; Italy – 2003, 2005, 2006, 2013, 2016; Spain – 2008; France – 2007, 2010, 2012; Slovakia – 2011; Macedonia – 2011; Turkey – 2014, 2015, 2018, 2023; England – 2017; Romania – 2018, Montenegro – 2019, Greece – 2024.

Krasimir Chanov was born on June 25, 1964 in Dimitrovgrad. He graduated from secondary music school with a major in “Clarinet” in Stara Zagora, the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv with a profile in “Music Pedagogy and Orchestral Conducting”, as well as the University of Thrace with a major in “Informatics”. Since 1992, he has been a teacher of clarinet, theoretical disciplines and informatics at “Vasil Levski” University of Applied Sciences – Dimitrovgrad. In 1994, he was awarded the “Teacher of the Year” award, and in 2017 – with the award for culture of the Municipality of Dimitrovgrad. For many years, he was part of the composition of the Fun Wind Orchestra and conductor of the Municipal Women’s Choir in the town of Dimitrovgrad. Since 2022, he has been the conductor of the mixed choir “Nightingale” at the community center “Druzhba-1870” in the town of Harmanli.
