The choir “Ave Musica” was founded in 1998 in honour of 45 years of creative activity of the famous Bulgarian conductor prof. Lilia Giuleva.
The priority in its repertoire are Bulgarian music, folklore of different nations, spiritual works, works from the 20-21 century, samples of pop, jazz and ethnic styles.
The ensemble participates in a number of international and national choral forums at home and abroad. Among its more significant achievements are the 1st prize in the category “Folklore” at the 4th International Choir Competition in Ankara (Turkey, 2005), the prize for the best performance of a work by a foreign composer at the 25th IHF – Nis (Serbia, 2014), the Grand Prize for the best performance at the National Music Festival “Petko Stainov” – Kazanlak (2017); awards for overall performance, diplomas and diplomas from festivals in Thessaloniki (Greece, 2015), Ohrid (Macedonia, 2014) and a number of forums in Bulgaria: International Festival of Orthodox Music – Pomorie (2012, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021, 2022), the initiative of the Bulgarian Choral Union “Bulgaria Sings” (2016, 2017, 2021), Thracian Choral Festival – Yambol (2008, 2014), Festival “Celebration of Sacred Music” – Gabrovo (2012), Festival of Student Choirs – Blagoevgrad (2000), etc.
The choir has made numerous recordings – solo and in collaboration with other musicians.
The founder and conductor of the choir “Ave Musica” is Tanya Nikleva. She graduated from the State Academy of Music in Sofia in 1996 in the class of choral conducting of prof. Lilia Giuleva. She is also the conductor of the women’s choir “Hristina Morfova” – Sofia (since 1996 and currently). He was awarded first prize at the first International Competition for Young Choir Conductors (Budapest, Hungary ‘2001), best conductor award at the 10th “Prof. Sofia Morfova” Festival of Women’s and Girls’ Choirs. Lilia Giuleva” (Targovishte ‘2017), as well as a number of other awards – personal and with their ensembles – from national and international forums.
