Children’s vocal and theatrical formation “Thalasumche” was formed in 1992. Its creator and artistic director is the composer and conductor Dimitar Kostantsaliev. In addition to singing and vocal performance, the children study solfeggio, acting and modern ballet with qualified teachers.
The group includes children aged between 4 and 18. Their repertoire includes: children’s entertainment music, Church Slavonic chants, classical and folk songs, as well as contemporary pop music.
Children’s vocal and theatrical formation “Thalasumche” has released 15 albums. Since 1994, the formation has staged 16 musicals and musical and stage performances.
The formation participates in joint productions of the “Bulgaria” Hall, the “Stefan Makedonski” Musical Theater, and the Sofia Opera and Ballet.
It regularly participates in holiday programs of the Bulgarian National Radio, Bulgarian National Television, private radio programs, children’s mornings within the framework of New Bulgarian Music, charity performances and concerts organized by various public organizations, foundations, etc.
Children’s vocal and theatrical formation “Thalasamche” has won numerous awards in our and international competitions for children’s and popular music in Belarus, Ukraine, Poland, Macedonia, Turkey and Italy. The distinctions are for both the entire formation and for solo performers. Over the past ten years, as a laureate, winner of the Grand Prix and numerous first prizes, the formation has achieved remarkable results at prestigious international forums for choral music in Spain, Turkey, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Russia, Croatia, Moldova, Latvia and Sweden.
There are also many tours of the talented children. Children’s vocal and theatrical formation “Thalasamche” has taken the stages in Turkey, Poland, Italy, Macedonia, Ukraine, Belarus, Spain, Austria, Czech Republic, Russia, Croatia, Latvia and Sweden.
Dimitar Kostantsaliev graduated from the “Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts – Plovdiv” in 1988. He studied composition with Prof. Ivan Spasov and choral conducting with Assoc. Prof. Nikola Lipov. In 1994 he specialized in composition at the “State Music Academy – Sofia” with Prof. Pencho Stoyanov.
He began his musical career as an accompanist in the “Slavic Unity” choir G. Oryahovitsa (1983-85). From 1986 to 1988 he became the chief artistic director of the Ladies Chamber Choir – Asenovgrad. He taught music in public and private schools from (1988 – 2011). In 2004 he became a member of the Union of Bulgarian Composers.
In 1992 created the Children’s Vocal and Theater Ensemble “Thalasumche”, of which he is the chief artistic director to this day. Under his leadership, the ensemble won prizes at numerous international choral competitions, as well as at various music and theater forums in the country. In 2000, he created the vocal groups “Instinct” and “No way”, and in 2016 – the vocal group “Ohana”. Since 2011, he has been the chief artistic director of the Children’s Choir “Rodna pesen” – Pernik.
Author of symphonic, chamber, choral, solo, popular and children’s music. Winner of awards as a composer and conductor of numerous international and national competitions. A special place in his work is occupied by music for children. He created 13 musicals and over 500 children’s songs. He has recordings on the Bulgarian National Radio of symphonic, chamber, choral, popular and children’s music. His musicals and children’s songs have been released on audio cassettes and CDs.
In 2007, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria awarded him for his high achievements and contribution to the development of Bulgarian culture.
