Mixed Choir “Black Sea Sounds”, gr. Balchik was founded in 1914.
Its artistic biography includes numerous performances, diplomas and awards from international choral competitions and festivals in Europe and Asia.
The ensemble has released 5 CDs, 2 documentaries and a historical book.
For its active contribution to Bulgarian musical culture the choir has been awarded:
“Golden Lyre” and “Crystal Necklace” from the Union of Bulgarian Music and Dance Artists;
“Golden Plaque” from the Bulgarian Choral Union /three times/
“Golden Statuette” from the Union of Bulgarian Composers /three times/.
In 2014 the choir was awarded a diploma by the Balchik Municipality for its overall contribution to the cultural life of the town. The concert was held in Balchik.
Winner of gold and silver medals at the IV International Festival “Europe and its songs” – Barcelona, Spain /2001/.
Award for the best interpretation of a work by a foreign composer from the XXII International Choir Competition – Nis, Serbia /2008/.
The Grand Prize “Kibela” for overall performance at the V Choir Festival – Razgrad, Bulgaria /2010 /.
Gold and silver diplomas from the XXIV International Choir Festival “Prague Cantata” /Prague, Czech Republic, 2010/.
Silver diploma from the VI International Christmas Festival, Krakow, Poland, 2015 /.
“Black Sea Sounds” is a world of communication and creativity. United by the love of music and an intoxicating sense of community, the performers in the ensemble write the contemporary cultural history of the city of Balchik.
Since 2011, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Black Sea Sounds is the organizer of the eponymous international choir festival, which takes place in Balchik at the beginning of June.

Valentina Georgieva is a doctor of musicology, conductor of the mixed choir “Black Sea Sounds”, leader of children’s vocal formations, chairman of the Association “Musical World-Balchik”, founder and artistic director of the international choir festival “Black Sea Sounds”.
He is a graduate of the Academy of Performing Arts, Sofia. He is a graduate of the Academy of Arts and Music in Plovdiv. He specialized in choral conducting at the State Academy of Performing Arts “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov, Plovdiv. He received his doctorate in 2013 at New Bulgarian University.
Valentina Georgieva is a lecturer, workshop leader, jury in national and international competitions and festivals, author and editor of collections, organizer and mediator of events and creative initiatives.
As a conductor of the mixed choir “Black Sea Sounds” /since 1998/, she has participated in numerous competitions and festivals in Spain, Greece, Macedonia, Germany, Italy, Serbia, Croatia, Turkey, Poland, Slovenia, Romania.
