Mixed Choir “Dobrich”

Mixed Choir “Dobrich” was created by Maestro Dimitar Vangelov /1943 – 2021/ in 1980. Maestro Vangelov is a choral conductor who specialized at the Bulgarian State Conservatory “PanchoVladigerov” and theTchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. Under his leadership, the Mixed Choir “Dobrich” has won first prizes and gold medals from Bulgarian and international festivals. Over 1,500 performers have been trained in choral singing through the composition. The choir participates in concert programs, celebrations and notable events, festivals and competitions. In addition to Bulgaria, it has performed in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Russia, Finland, and France. There are broadcasts in programs on the Bulgarian National Radio, Bulgarian National Television, radio and television in St. Petersburg – Russia, the Central Television in Prague – Czech Republic, Radio “France” – France.

Last year, the Mixed Choir “Dobrich” won the Grand Prix at an international festival in Varna and the Annual Award of the Union of Bulgarian Composers for the promotion of Bulgarian song creation. The choir is a regular member of the European Choral Association based in Bonn, Germany. This year ( 2025), in connection with its 45th anniversary, the choir was awarded the Bronze Lyre.

Today, the conductor of the Mixed Choir “Dobrich” is Nikolay Neychev.

He graduated from the IMHK – Sofia in the class of Prof.  Georgi Todorov with specialties “Tuba” and “Methodist of Amateur Artistic Activities”. He has a specialization in “Musical Pedagogy” at the Slavic University – Sofia with Prof. Boris Karadimchev and a specialization in “Choral Conducting” at the IUU – Varna with Prof. Marin Chonev.
