The choir is one of the veterans of Bulgarian choral activity. It was founded in 1901. Kamburov, Roman Spatarov, Atanas Bachvarov, Joseph Dushek and others. In 1952, maestro Zahari Mednikarov (1924 – 2007), world-famous conductor, honorary citizen of Dobrich, teacher and inspirer, took the conductor’s chair. Since 2007, the conductor of the Dobrudja Sounds Choir is Elvira Pastramadjieva – who has dedicated her professional career to the development of the Choir.
Her concert activity in the country and abroad is rich – Romania, Russia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, England, Greece, Turkey. The choir is a laureate of all republican festivals, winner of international awards from Arezzo – Italy, Langollen – England, Antalya – Turkey, etc.
Over the years, the Dobrudjan Sounds Choir has formed generations of singers – amateurs and professionals who dedicate their lives to music, conquering new performance peaks with skill and inspiration.
The repertoire is constantly renewed and enriched, including church Slavonic, popular music, samples from the world choral, opera and operetta treasury.
