The mixed choir “Rodna pesen” at the Municipality of Burgas was established in 1962. The choir unites dozens of enthusiastic singers who, since the beginning of the 20th century, have been singing in various choir formations in the seaside town.
In 1962, the young conductor Stoyan Kralev stood at the podium and united the formations under the name of the Representative Choir “Rodna pesen” at the Municipality of Burgas.
Since then, the path of the ambitious, talented and motivated choir has been strewn with a lot of work, consistency and extremely high achievements in the field of choral art. The concerts are filled with musical works of all kinds, and the audience hears works of all possible styles from all over the world and develops a taste and aesthetics for the contemporary sound of choral singing.
Dozens of professional musicians emerge from the ranks of “Rodna pesen”, and the halls are filled with connoisseurs and admirers of our unique folklore heritage and the high professional achievements of the Bulgarian composers of choral songs, divine church chants and world musical models in all genres.
The medals won in prestigious competitions in Poland, Russia, Hungary, Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Serbia, Macedonia, Croatia, Romania confirm the name of the Burgas choir “Rodna pesen” and the high level of training in the Bulgarian choral school.
Conductors Vyara Mihaylova and Vaniliya Kisyova leave a huge mark. Since the beginning of the 90s, the choir “Rodna pesen” has been successively led by conductors Penka Mihaylova, Nikolay Merdzhanov, Rozalina Kotseva, Todorka Bineva, Levon Manukyan.
Since 2018 conductor of the Mixed Choir “Rodna pesen” at the Municipality of Burgas is Milena Dobreva.
Milena Dobreva graduated from the Sofia University of Music and Drama – Burgas, the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts – Plovdiv, Pop and Jazz Singing – National Music Academy “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” and Music Media Technologies and Sound Engineering at Sofia University “St. Kl. Ohridski”.
Teacher of singing and piano at Sofia University “Dimcho Debelyanov” and National Music Academy “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov”, Burgas. She is also the conductor of the Mixed Choir “Rodna pesen”, Burgas. Creator and leader of the Vocal Ensemble “Sea Pebbles” – winner of prizes in national and international competitions and festivals. She recorded and released 4 solo albums of the formation, as well as one of the Vocal Ensemble “Fortissimo” created and led by her.
Composer and arranger of popular and children’s songs, awarded at the National Competition “Burgas and the Sea” and the National Competition for Children’s Songs “Sweet Singing Lark”. Winner of the First Prize at the “Teacher of the Year” Competition of the Republic of Bulgaria, the prestigious “Burg of the Year” Award, as well as the “Prof. V. Vicheva” Award, Shumen.
She graduated from the Master Class for Choir Conductors with Frieder Bernius.
