Choir “Detska Kitka” at the Children’s Choir Centre – Plovdiv marks its beginning in 1947, when an enthusiastic group of students, guided by the music teacher Anastas Marinkev, decided to establish a new choir for school-age children and young people in Plovdiv. By 1969 it was known as the Plovdiv Pioneer Choir, and in 1970 the conductor Georgi Samardzhiev and the assistant conductor Zlatina Deliradeva, together with the choir members, gave it a new name – “Detska Kitka”.
Zlatina Deliradeva became the chief artistic director of “Detska Kitka” in 1972. And in 2003 her daughter, Yana Deliradeva, joined the choir as assistant conductor and since 2011 she has directed most of its concert performances.
The choir’s biography includes nearly 50 concert tours and over twenty international festivals around the world.
The choir team also includes Nikolina Karmazliyska, Sonya Zapranova and Julia Uzunova.
Yana Deliradeva studied conducting under prof. Nikola Lipov and prof. Georgi Robev. She graduated from the Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey, in the class of prof. Joseph Flummerfelt. From 2000 to 2002 he served as assistant conductor of the Westminster Conservatory Choir.
He began as assistant conductor of the Children’s Wrist Choir in 2003 and as principal conductor in 2011. He is a Senior Assistant Professor of Choral Conducting at the Academy of Performing Arts in Plovdiv, where he is.
He leads a conducting workshop at the Let the Future Sing International Youth Choir Festival in Stockholm, Sweden. He has won the Veneta Vicheva Award for Best Conductor at the 23rd International Festival for Children and Youth Choirs “Dobri Voynikov” in Shumen, the Best Conductor Award at the 7th International Choral Festival “Black Sea Sounds” in Balchik, the Golden Lyre Award of the Union of Bulgarian Music and Dance Artists.
Since 2018 she has been working as a vocal teacher at the Children’s Academy of Plovdiv Opera.
