“Trimontium” Female choir – Plovdiv

“Trimontium” female choir was established in 1965. It is a direct successor to the Representative Choir of Plovdiv Teachers. Over the years, the conductors of the ensemble have been the distinguished Plovdiv musicians Assoc. Prof. Krastyu Mihaylov, Milcho Petrov, Tsvetana Vasilkova, Boyanka Bahneva, Georgi Samardzhiev and Geno Zhelyazkov. Since 2010, the choir conductor has been Vanya Atanasova
Choir “Trimontsium” is a winner of gold medals from the 6th and 7th Republican Festivals of Choral Art. It is a laureate of the 3rd prize and a bronze medal from the International Choir Competition “Prof. Georgi Dimitrov”, Varna.
In 2015, it won First Prize in the category of homogeneous choirs at the International Choir Competition “Music and the Sea” in Katerini, Greece. In 2018 was awarded a silver medal at the International Choir Competition in Preveza, Greece. At the 15th International Festival “Concepts” in Kragujevac, Serbia in 2023, it received the special Award for “Best Authentic Presentation of National Traditions and Folklore”.
The choir actively participates in the cultural life of Plovdiv and the country. In 2017, it performed Mass “Gloria” by A. Vivaldi with a chamber orchestra at the Plovdiv State Opera, conducted by maestro G. Dimitrov. The concert was held on the initiative and under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Krikor Cetinyan. In 2019, it participated in the events of Plovdiv “European Capital of Culture” with the performance of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” by F. Mendelssohn, together with the Youth Philharmonic from Bremen, Germany, conducted by Stefan Geiger. Participates in the performance of the opera “Nabucco” by G. Verdi, at the Plovdiv Opera.
Choir “Trimontium” is a winner of diplomas and awards from the National Choir Festivals in Pomorie, Yambol, Gabrovo, Kazanlak, Stara Zagora, Harmanli, Targovishte and Haskovo.
It has participated in International Choir Festivals and Competitions in Italy, Spain, Hungary, France, Germany, Greece, Turkey, Macedonia, Croatia and Montenegro. In 2023, it participated in the performance of Mass-Tango “Buenos Aires” by the Argentine composer Martin Palmeri, in the city of Kragujevac, Serbia. Conductor Prof. Predrag Kostovic.
The choir’s repertoire includes works from different eras, styles and genres. Particular attention is paid to works by Bulgarian composers. It has released a separate CD.

Vanya Atanasova graduated from the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts “Prof. Asen Diamandiev” in Plovdiv with a degree in music pedagogy, master’s degree. She studied piano in the class of Prof. Georgi Petrov and conducting with Prof. Vasilka Spasova. She works as a music teacher and basic teacher at the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts. Since 1985, she has been working with the “Trimontium” choir as an accompanist, choirmaster and since 2010 as a conductor. For her successes in musical and pedagogical activities in 2004, she was awarded the Honorary Badge of the city of Plovdiv. In 2017, she received the Honorary Award “Neofit Rilski” for many years of comprehensive highly professional work in the education system. In 2023, she was awarded by the Lions Club “Evridika” in Plovdiv. Plovdiv with the title “Revivalist of the Year”, as conductor of the “Trimontium” choir and for his contribution to upholding the Bulgarian spirit and ideals. He is the holder of an honorary badge of the Cultural Center at the City Hall of Kifissia, Greece.
