It was created on September 2, 1988 by maestro Dimitrina Hineva as a private choir of amateur singers under the name “Friends of Music”. Over the years, the collegium passed through community center activities at the “Hristo Botev” Elementary School, “Mayakovski” Elementary School and through various age formations. Later, it became a school choir of the “Konstantin Preslavski” NGHNI, Varna, and its participants are high school students. The most significant appearances of the Collegium were in the period between 1993-2003.
Since 1994, he has been participating in the liturgies and festive services of the Church “Sveta Petka” in the city of Varna.
In 1995, he received the name “Annunciation” after his Holy Baptism in the Sokol Monastery by Father Dimitar, currently the Protosingel of the Varna and Veliky Preslav Metropolies.
The ensemble is a laureate of international choir competitions: 1st prize at the Youth Choir Competition in Neerpelt, Belgium (May 1996), 2nd prize in Karditsa, Greece (September 1991) and 3rd prize and bronze medal at the May Choir Competition “Prof. G. Dimitrov” city of Varna (May 1991).
VC “Blagovesthenie” performs concerts in the country and abroad – Finland, Russia, France, Greece, Poland and others, and enjoys success at the international festivals in the cities of Argostoli and Lixouri, island Greece (1991), the city of Banska Bystrica , Slovakia (1994), Youth Music Festival Belfort, France (1996), Ukrainian Festival “Rosa Mira” Varna – Golden Sands – Bulgarian Riviera (1997).
During the period 1996-2002, he performed three concerts together with the Varna State Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Yordan Dafov, Dimitar Nenov and Lance Friedl (USA). The first – Christmas, conducted by Yordan Dafov. At the second concert, the Annunciation Choir performs for the first time in the world the newly written work – Symphony “Hallelujah” by Kang, conducted by Lance Friedl (USA). The third concert was conducted by Alipi Naydenov, in which “12 psalms based on ancient Jewish spiritual texts” by Vladimir Slavin were performed for the first time in the world.
Over the years, the Collegium has had numerous concert appearances: annual performance at the Christmas Festival organized by the Youth Home of Varna, at the National Initiative of the Choral Union – “Bulgaria sings”, at the Review of School and Temple Song, VIII edition of the Choir Meeting “St. George the Victorious” » Ruse 2019, at the Christmas concert in Novi Pazar, December 3, 2022, at the Christmas festival in Sliven, December 10, 2022, at the First International Choir Festival “Land of Glorious Ancestors”, Novi Pazar, September 2023. From all its participation in international and national festivals, the composition receives diplomas and subject awards.
The collective’s repertoire covers works from different styles and eras with a priority of Church Slavonic chanting.
The creator, leader, conductor and pianist to this day is the maestro Dimitrina Hineva. Anton Momchilov and Neli Lazarova have been assistant conductors over the years. Vocal teachers – Mila Mavrova and Vera Rozova. Pianists – Yordan Bachvarov, Ana Pashanova and Marianna Grigorova.
Several opera singers have emerged from the ranks of the choir: Evgeni Stanimirov, Ivo Yordanov, Geo Chobanov – soloists of the Varna State Opera; Evgeni Dimov, Kamen Nikolov, Miroslav Velikov, Evgeni Nedev, Lachezar Stoyanov, Ivan Boshnakov, Krasimira Miteva and others – choristers of the Varna State Opera; Ina Petrova – soloist at the Sofia Opera; Rumyana Petrova – Verona Opera, Italy, as well as priests Father Dimitar Kadiyski and Father Ivan Smilovski.
